Quaternary Glaciations Extent And Chronology. This book is the first of three volumes in which the recent knowledge of the extent and chronology of Quaternary glaciations has been compiled on a global scale. This information is seen as a fundamental requirement, not only for the glacial workers, but for the wider user-community of general Quaternary workers. THE Association internationale pour l'Etude du Quaternaire europeen, which met last at Leningrad in , will hold its third session at Vienna on September Prof. A. Penck is honorary.

He has written and co-authored three coastal studies books. Professor Woodroffe was national representative on the INQUA Quaternary Shorelines subcommission, and served on the committees of both the IGCP project 'Coastal Evolution in the Quaternary' and its follow-up project, and on the Scientific Steering Committee of the LOICZ (Land-Ocean. It is not, however, a dating manual. Rather, it is a book that is written from the perspective of the user community as opposed to that of the laboratory expert. It is, above all, a book that lays emphasis on the practical side of Quaternary dating, for the principal focus is on examples or case studies. Quaternary History of Ireland by Edwards and Warren () has been the last systematic study of the Irish Quaternary, so a volume like this is long overdue. This volume is the first in a .
